Former U.S. national team coach Bora Milutinovic, recently fired by Mexico despite guiding them to the 1998 World Cup, has been named the new coach of Nigeria. Milutinovic, 53, will become the first person to coach four different teams in the World Cup. He previously led Mexico (1986), Costa Rica (1990) and the USA (1994). All three teams advanced to the second round, and Mexico reached the 1986 quarterfinals before falling to West Germany on penalties. He replaces Frenchman Phillipe Troussier, who was let go in September after guiding the Super Eagles to a World Cup berth.
