Gus Kartes’ 47th-minute goal was the difference as the Boys’ U-18 national team beat Slovakia 1-0 in a friendly match in Moscow July 14. The U.S. victory avenges a 1-0 loss to Slovakia at the Piestany tournament in April. Both teams competed at the World Youth Games but failed to advance to the second round. The U.S. will likely play another international friendly this week before returning home this weekend. July 14 in Moscow USA 1 Slovakia 0. Goal: Kartes 47.
