Declining crowds in the English Premier League have been attributed to unspectacular play and high ticket prices: "When somebody buys a ticket and spends 50, 60 or 70 pounds [$90, $108 or $126], it is not because he wants to be bored," says Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger.

English Premier League goalscoring is down to an average of 2.1 per game compared to 3.0 last year at this stage of the season. More than half of the Premier League's 17 returning clubs have seen a drop in attendance.
