Ronaldo broke his silence over the speculation surrounding his future at Real Madrid, saying he wishes to stay at the club despite confirmed interest from AC Milan. “Milan wants him, and that’s certain,” Madrid President Ramon Calderon told Spanish paper La Marca. “From the people close to him I know he wants to stay although in soccer anything can happen,” he added. Whatever happens has much to do with Fabio Capello’s plans for the Brazilian striker. Capello may regard him as surplus to requirements, which would effectively signal the end of his four-year Real Madrid career. Ronaldo of course spent five years at AC Milan rival Inter Milan before joining Real in 2002. He has yet to play for Capello after being sidelined with a knee injury. Said Calderon: “I want to speak to him, and of course (sports director Predrag) Mijatovic. Fabio says that he could play with van Nistelrooy,” he said. The speculation about Ronaldo’s departure comes after Calderon publicly admitted that his desired midfield trio of Cesc Fabregas, Arjen Robben and Kaka would not be making it to the Bernabeu this season.
