Earlier this summer, Cody Arnoux made a rare move for an American player by signing for an English Premier club directly out of college. Arnoux starred for three years at Wake Forest University where he scored 16 goals in 16 games during the 2008 season. Goal.com interviewed Arnoux about his decision to move to Everton and his experience in England.
"It was hard to say goodbye to Wake Forest," said Arnoux, "because I truly wanted to finish what Coach Jay [Vidovich], my teammates and I had built there. Having the opportunity to join a club like Everton doesn't come about everyday and it was something I simply couldn't say no to."
Arnoux on how he's settling in with the club so far: "I'm settling in very well with the club at the moment. The players and coaching staff were all very welcoming which made the transition much easier. As for the football side of things, it was difficult getting use to the speed of play but I'm adjusting well. We played our first reserves game on Tuesday and beat Burnley 3-0. I scored the third goal, which was special because it was my debut and first goal for the club."
Arnoux on what he thinks of England: "I'm actually really enjoying England. It's fun to be in a new place, and experience different cultures. Driving was difficult to get use to and of course the food is different but the atmosphere when the weekend comes around and premiership games are taking place is a football enthusiasts heaven."
