Charlie Davies showed why he just might be the best player in college soccer, scoring Boston CollegeÆs first two goals and assisted on the third as the Eagles upset the No. 2 Maryland, 3-1, Friday night before 6,214 fans, the second-largest crowd ever at Ludwig Field.
Davies, the ACC leader in goals and points entering the match, recorded his 13th and 14th scores of the season, tying then snapping BC's 36-year old single-season record formerly set by Charlie Mundhenk in 1970.
It was the first time Maryland had lost at home in exactly two years. It was also the first-ever road win for BC in the Atlantic Coast Conference. ôAt the beginning of the year, I said that this young team would go through some growing pains and you just donÆt know when,ö Maryland coach Sasho Cirovski said. ôNow, weÆre being challenged a little bit and weÆll come through this with flying colors. Right now, weÆre a little banged up.''
