The NCAA men’s Division I soccer committee has recommended that 11 conference champions get automatic bids into the 1996 Men’s Division I Tournament:

ACC, Big East, Big Ten, CAA, Ivy League, MCC, Mid-American, Missouri Valley, MPSF, North Atlantic and WCC.

The following are the proposed play-in pairings: Conference USA vs. Mid-Continent; TAAC vs. Sub Belt; Big South vs. Southern; Patriot vs. Northeast; Atlantic Ten vs. MAAC.

The MCC and Mid-American replace Conference USA and TAAC among the conferences with automatic bids.
