Soccer America Men’s Freshman of the Year
Jay Heaps (Duke)
He is the man who humbled Virginia — Duke’s semifinal victim — by scoring four goals and three assists in three games against the four-time defending champ. He started all 24 games for the NCAA Division I runner-up and finished the season with 15 goals and nine assists — tops for a newcomer in 1995.
