Longtime Georgetown University assistant coach Dave Nolan was promoted to head coach, and Mercer hired Grant Serafy, one of Georgia's top prep coaches, to lead its women's soccer program.
Nolan served five years under former Georgetown coach Diane Drake, who resigned last month to take charge at George Mason. He also coached the Bethesda Excel U-16 girls and D.C. United U-17 boys teams that last year reached the national finals.
The Irishman played at Seton Hall and coached at Fairleigh Dickinson and Seton Hall prior to arriving at Georgetown.
Serafy, who played at Hartwick, has guided the girls team at Stratford Academy in Macon, Ga., to a 153-14-4 record since starting the program in 1994, winning the past eight GISA state titles. He's also coached Stratford's boys the past 16 seasons, going 215-64-13 and winning five state titles in the past eight years.
He replaced Jodie Smith, who resigned in January following a 5-11-3 campaign.
