North Carolina is back on top in Soccer America's College Women's Top 25 after capturing its showdown with Stanford, 1-0, Friday at St. Mary's Fall Classic in Moraga, Calif. The Cardinal, which moved to No. 1 last week, again switches places with the Tar Heels, dropping to No. 2.

UCLA falls from third to fifth after losing at home in OT to No. 8 Santa Clara, and Penn State and West Virginia fall out of the Top 10. The Nittany Lions, who were ranked seventh, are 14th after Michigan's 4-0 romp. A tie with Seton Hall drops the Mountaineers from ninth to 11th.

Michigan returns to the Top 25, at 18th, with its big win.

California climbed from 10th to seventh after handing Wake Forest its first loss; the Demon Deacons, who rebounded with a win at Sacramento State, nonetheless returned to the Top 10 — at No. 10. Connecticut entered the Top 10 for the first time, moving to ninth after shutout wins over Miami and Yale.

Washington's roller-coaster ride through the rankings continued, the Huskies dropping from 12th to 20th after a 4-0 loss at Portland. The Pilots are ranked third.

Two teams fall from the Top 25. No. 21 Virginia was held to a draw by Richmond, then had to rally to end UAB's upset bid. No. 23 Notre Dame's struggles continued with a 3-0 loss to West Virginia.

Cal State Fullerton, once a staple in the College Men's Top 25, makes its debut in the rankings after opening Big West Conference play with wins over Cal State Northridge and Pacific. The Titans are 8-1-1, with a victory at San Diego; their only loss was in OT at Portland, and they played Washington to a tie.
