Idaho State goalkeeper Shannon Boyle made 13 saves, the last a stop during the penalty-kick shootout, and the Bengals stunned 10th-seeded Utah in Salt Lake City to reach the second round of NCAA Division I tournament.

Boyle denied Tracy Stratton on the third round of kicks and all five Idaho State shooters converted, Heather Jones with the decisive shot, in a 5-4 shootout triumph following a 0-0 draw.

Idaho State (10-8-2) will face Brigham Young, a 2-0 winner over Colorado, in a second-round game on Saturday. No. 19 Utah finishes the season at 16-2-2.

BYU (13-5-1) reached the second round for the fifth time, using an early goal by Terra Bigelow and a late strike from Jennifer Fielding to beat Big 12 champion Colorado, 2-0. The Buffaloes (15-4-1) nearly tied the score at 1 in the 76th minute, but Fran Munnelly's blast went off the crossbar.
