Kristi Sullivan scored a pair of second-half goals and Westmont College of Santa Barbara, Calif., captured its second successive NAIA women's soccer championship — and its third in four years — by edging archrival Azusa Pacific, 2-1, in the final at St. Charles, Mo.

Sullivan, a junior, tallied in the 65th and 75th minutes, her 20th and 21st goals of the season, as the Warriors (20-1-3), four time NAIA champions, knocked off Azusa Pacific for the third time this season. Kristi Peich set up the first goal and Katie Cates' cross created the second.

Sullivan, a transfer from California, scored in the other two wins, a 2-0 Golden State Athletic Conference victory Oct. 12 in Santa Barbara and a 1-0 triumph in the NAIA Region II title game Nov. 16 in Azusa.

Azusa Pacific (16-4-0), the 1998 NAIA titlist, pulled one back in the 88th minute on Erin Arbizu's 19th goal of the season.

Six of the past seven NAIA champions have been based on the West Coast.

Sullivan was selected the tournament MVP and her sister Karin was named the tournament's top offensive player. Azusa Pacific's Jen Sousa was named the top defensive player.
