Lorrie Fair

She didn’t put up flashy numbers, but Lorrie Fair had the most impact of any player in the country. She was the main reason a North Carolina team that didn’t have the best talent won the 1999 NCAA championship. The versatile Fair played wherever UNC needed her and starred at each position. She scored goals as an attacking midfielder, filling in for red-shirt senior Laurie Schwoy, and as a forward on a young frontline. Late in the regular season, Fair returned to left back, a position she hates. Carolina allowed just one goal after that, and that came when Fair wasn’t on the field.
