The Colorado Rapids fell 4-2 to Mexican First Division club Leon July 15 in the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup and crashed out of the tournament. The Rapids won the first leg 1-0 on June 28, but fell 4-3 on aggregate. The Emeralds raced out to a 3-0 lead before Steve Trittschuh scored on the stroke of halftime to make it 3-1. Leon had taken a 4-1 lead when Chris Henderson was ejected in the 56th minute. Despite playing with only 10 men, Colorado scored in the 69th minute through Paul Bravo and had a shot cleared off the goal line in the 75th minute. Had that ball gone in, the aggregate score of 4-4 would have seen Colorado through due to the away goals rule. With the win, Leon advances to the quarterfinals, where it will face Luis Angel Firpo of El Salvador on Aug. 11. July 15 in Leon Leon (Mexico) 4 Colorado (MLS) 2.
