Playing their third match in eight days and using a young lineup, D.C. United drew with host the Kansas City Wizards 1-1 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, a result that inched it one point ahead of the Eastern Conference pack and next Saturday's foe, second-place Toronto FC.

United managed the draw while resting former league MVPs Christian Gomez and Luciano Emilio for most of the match. Although not entirely pleased with his team's play, United head coach Tom Soehn was content with his team's result amidst a grueling stretch of games.

"Our mentality is pretty good. We're in the mindset that we're not going to lose games," Soehn said. "It's our third game in eight days. Our legs got a little tired, and we're having to run some guys 90-minute games in a row. [The heavy slate of games] affected us a little bit. We'll take it. [Kansas City] was pushing hard at the end. Obviously, they're at home. It's still a good result."
