Another former MLS striker returning from a quick stay in Europe could be Nate Jaqua, reports Bernardo Fallas. According to Houston Dynamo President Oliver Luck, Jaqua has been offered a contract to re-sign for Houston, who would then pass him on to Seattle in time for its debut MLS season in 2009.
Jaqua is an Oregon native who would like to return to the Pacific Northwest, said Luck, but added “we certainly would like to have him back, even if it is for the remainder of the season.” Jaqua, a physical striker who moved to the Dynamo from LA in the middle of 2007, allowed his MLS contract to expire in December before moving to Austrian first division team, SC Rheindorf Altach.
In Austria, he scored five goals in 10 appearances, helping his team avoid relegation. In MLS play for Chicago, Los Angeles and Houston from 2003 and 2007, Jaqua scored 30 goals and registered 14 assists in 129 appearances (89 starts). He has three caps for the U.S. national team.
