Soccer America Silver XI
In celebration of its silver anniversary, Soccer America and partners TSI, US Youth Soccer, and the National Soccer Hall of Fame distributed over 2.5 million ballots across the country in 1996, asking fans to pick a team of players and one coach from the last 25 years who’ve had the most positive impact on American soccer. That team will be forever honored with the title:
the Soccer America Silver XI.
Soccer fans responded by mail, by phone, and over the Internet–and everyone had an opinion! Active players, retired players, male, female, American and foreign players all had a crack at making the Silver XI. Who should be the coach? We let the fans decide, and there was no shortage of debate.
Now the votes are in and the fans have spoken, but did your favorite player make the team? Be there at the Ukrops Main Stage when U.S. legend and Kansas City head coach Ron Newman unveils the Soccer America Silver XI to the world. Don’t forget your autograph book.
