The final match of the 2001 U.S. Women’s Cup Sunday (Sept. 16) between the USA and China at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., has been canceled. The move was made this afternoon at U.S. Soccer’s Chicago headquarters in deference to the tragic events in the United States of Sept. 11. Prior to the final match being canceled, U.S. Soccer had canceled a U.S. Women’s Cup doubleheader featuring the USA, China, Germany and Japan that had been scheduled for Columbus, Ohio, on Tuesday evening (Sept. 11).
