Amelie Coquet scored in the 18th minute and Lilas Trankia in the 46th as France captured the European U-19 women's championship on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Norway at Leipzig, Germany.
The victory was the first in three UEFA U-19 finals for Coach Bruno Blini, whose squad opened the tournament by tying Norway and losing to Spain, then needed to rally to beat the Netherlands to reach the semifinals.
Winger Stine Frantzen, who led Norway with three goals in the tournament, was unable to start because of illness. She came on in the second half but fired at France goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi when she got her chance.
Germany's Shelley Thompson won the Golden Boot with four goals, all scored in a 6-0 romp over England in a Group A finale.
