The summer transfer market has been busy as ever, and Arsenal is once again involved in the big news of the day, signing Croatia striker Eduardo Da Silva from Dinamo Zagreb for an estimated $32 million to fill the gaping hole left by Thierry Henry’s departure for Barcelona. Da Silva has led Croatia’s strong Euro 2008 charge, having scored seven goals in 12 total internationals. It is the biggest-ever transfer in Croatian history.

Elsewhere, the $53 million arrival of Atletico Madrid’s Fernando Torres at Liverpool looks certain after the player’s agent said a deal would be sewn up within 24 hours. (Torres’ salary at Liverpool is expected in the $180,000 per week range.) The Reds are about to unload Luis Garcia to Atletico in a separate deal, worth $8 million.

Atletico have already prepared for life without Torres after paying Villarreal $28 million for former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan, who’s signed a four-year deal. According to the Guardian, Atletico isn’t done there, either, as Forlan’s Villarreal teammate, Juan Roman Riquelme, who was loaned out to Boca Juniors last year, is expected to follow, thanks to the money brought in from Torres’ departure.
