Three German soccer clubs have announced a changing of the guard this week with the appointment of new coaches in Leverkusen, Hamburg and Frankfurt less than a month before training begins for next season. Brunno Labbadia is leaving Bayer Leverkusen for Hamburg, while Leverkusen signed 64-year-old coach Jupp Heynckes to a deal good until 2011. Labbadia asked Leverkusen to terminate his contract before he was given a new, three-year deal in Hamburg. Lastly, Eintracht Frankfurt announced that Michael Skibbe would be returning to the Bundesliga to replace Friedhelm Funkel, who decided to leave the club after five years. Skibbe, who was the assistant to former German national team coach Rudi Voeller between 2000 and 2004, said he wanted to get the team playing “attractive, attacking soccer.”
