[AMERICANS IN ENGLAND] Goalkeeper Brad Guzan, Brad Friedel‘s understudy at English Premier League club Aston Villa, was called into action and made one fine save as Villa downed second division Doncaster, 3-1, in a fourth-round FA Cup replay. Everton’s Tim Howard, whom Guzan backs up with the U.S. national team, celebrated 1-0 win over Liverpool.
Guzan, 24, who joined Aston Villa last summer from Chivas USA, had previously played four games – a League Cup match and three UEFA Cup games.
Everton beat archrival Liverpool, which played a man down from the on 76th minute, on a 118th goal by Dan Gosling. Howard had a quiet day but contributed with a save from Albert Riera’s effort.
Everton hosts Aston Villa in the round of 16.
