[OFF THE POST] Swiss club Basel fined its goalkeeper Franco Costanzo for grabbing a teammate by the hair on the field but allowed Argentine to keep the captain’s band.

Upon the final whistle of a 1-1 tie at home with archrival rival FC Zurich, Costanzo argued furiously with teammate teammate Beg Ferati. After Ferati pushed Costanzo away, the keeper clutch Ferati’s locks.

Teammates and an opponent pulled the two apart.

“He lost his composure in an unacceptable way and overstepped the legitimate emotional boundaries,” said the club in a statement, not revealing the amount of the fine.

“I’m sorry, I apologize,” said the former River Plate goalkeeper. “Everyone knows me and it’s the first time in my career I’ve done a stupid thing like this. It’s a situation we have to sort out in the locker room.”
