Honduras: Star forward Carlos Pavon was forced off injured at halftime of Morelia’s 1-0 victory over Atlante in Mexico City, apparently reaggravating an injury to his right knee suffered during the Mexican playoffs last December. The injury might not require surgery, but Morelia team physician Ricardo Cadena said the injury will require at minimum two weeks of rehabilitation. Honduras national team physician Oscar Benitez admitted “the possibilities for Pavon to play against Costa Rica are minimal.” With Pavon out, both teams will be missing top guns. Costa Rica striker Paulo Wanchope underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last week and will not be available for the match. Jamaica: A goalkeeping crisis for the Boyz: All three goalies are hurt! Aaron Lawrence suffered a fractured ankle and will be lost for up to six weeks. Backup Donovan Ricketts is currently hampered by a strained groin, and third-string keeper Leon Gordon suffered a broken nose in his Premier Division match for Harbour View. Trinidad & Tobago: A large group of Britain-based players joined the Trinidad & Tobago camp as they began a three-match tour in England.. Standouts such as Hibernian midfielder Russell Latapy, West Ham United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, Burnley defender Ian Cox and Bristol Rovers defender Ronnie Mauge were among the players who joined the travel party in time for their match against Charlton Athletic in London. Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke will join the preparations after his clubs vital Champions League match against Valencia. “Things have gone very well since we’ve arrived. This is the spirit and the togetherness that we are happy to have again. This is what we’ve wanted,” T&T coach Ian Porterfield said. “The mood in training has been terrific, and, OK, some of the guys were a bit laid back because of the long traveling, but things are going to get going fully.”
