March 25 in Mexico City, Azteca Stadium Television: Telemundo (live), 1 pm ET, 10 am PT. Radio: Radio Unica (live), 1 pm ET, 10 am PT. Referee: Mauricio Navarro (Canada). Mexico faces a must-win situation after opening with a 2-0 loss to the United States. A 3-3 tie with Brazil in Guadalajara a week later calmed everyone’s nerves. Coach Enrique Meza has some tough choices: Does he go with Oswaldo Sanchez over Jorge Campos in goal and youngster Antonio DeNigris, who debuted against Brazil, up front? Jamaica will hope to improve upon its performance in its last appearance in Mexico City: a 6-0 loss. Big concern for Coach Clovis De Oliveira: Ian Goodison’s hamstring injury. De Oliveira has brought in three players from the U-20 team that qualified for the World Youth Championship: Shavar Thomas, Wolry Wolfe and Omar Daley. Among the players he reportedly considered for the squad were 2001 MLS draft picks: Craig Ziadie (D.C. United from the University of Richmond) and Gregory Simmons (Miami Fusion from the Hershey Wildcats). After the Reggae Boyz complained of harassment, the Mexican embassy dropped its request that the Boyz be fingerprinted in order to obtain visas.
