Zlatan Ibrahimovic is ready to take Juventus to court if the club refuses to release him for a reasonable fee. After coach Didier Deschamps informed the remaining squad members that no one else would be allowed to leave, Ibrahimovic’s agent Mino Raiola asserted, “We are looking for an agreed way out but if that isn’t possible, we’ll seek to do so… by taking legal action.” Ibrahimovic signed for Juventus in 2004 from Ajax and still has two years left on his contract, but following the club’s demotion to Serie B and the resulting exodus of top-quality players from the club, he no longer has any intention of staying with the Turin club. “He has already made it clear that he does not intend playing in [Serie] B and he absolutely hasn’t changed his mind,” Raiola said. It’s unclear what sort of legal action Raiola and Ibrahimovic could take. The player is contracted to Juventus for two more years, and his buyout clause is most likely stated somewhere in it. It’s likely to be very high, too, as Ibrahimovic was one of the most sought-after strikers in the world during the time he of his transfer to Juventus from Ajax. Other top players also want out from clubs who were penalized by the Italian match-fixing scandal. World Cup winner Luca Toni has told Fiorentina that he wants out of his contract, too, after the Florence club was docked 19 points at the start of the season and thrown out of the Champions League for its involvement in the match-rigging scandal.
