After a heavy summer of spending, Inter owner Massimo Moratti reveals that the time has come for the club to offload a few of the assets deemed surplus to requirements the upcoming season. Inter has already added Patrick Vieira, Fabio Grosso, and strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Hernan Crespo. With six strikers up front, the likes of Obafemi Martins, Alvaro Recoba and possibly, Adriano could be let go to try and balance the club’s budget. Nigerian Martins is rumored to be anxious to leave, with Liverpool, Valencia and Newcastle having all shown interest. Recoba is being chased by Torino and Atalanta, while Manchester United is still rumored to be preparing a massive $60 million offer for Brazilian Adriano. Inter’s owner dismissed suggestions he was trying to lure Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to the San Siro after having already taken Ibrahimovic and Vieira off the relegated club’s hands. “Our relationship with Juventus is very good and I have no intention of creating any problems, that just wouldn’t be right.” Juve is desperate to keep Buffon, rated by many as the world’s best goalkeeper, after 7 of its starters found new clubs to start the 2006/2007 season.
