U.S. goalkeeper Kasey Keller is returning to England, where he started his professional career a decade ago. He has signed with Premier Division club Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer from SpainÆs Rayo Vallecano. Keller will try to wrest the starting spot from Neil Sullivan, who started in 35 games for Tottenham as it finished 12th last season in the 20-team Premier Division. Sullivan was named the clubÆs player of the year. Keller played two seasons for Vallecano in the Spanish First Division after three seasons with Leicester (Premier Division) and five seasons with London club Millwall (First Division). Keller, 31, had been close to signing with Turkish club Besiktas. ôIÆm very excited,ö Keller was quoted on Tottenham Hotspur’s official Web site. ôI had to weigh up the options that I had and I was very close to going to Istanbul but the Spurs thing came up and it seemed like the best move all round. ôI know there is going to be good competition here but itÆs a big club and it feels like a winning environment.ö
