Some may not know this, but Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann perused a cheat sheet with the penalty-taking habits of Argentina’s top players during Germany’s 4-2 shootout victory over the South Americans in the World Cup quarterfinal. Apparently, the tactic worked well, as Lehmann managed to stop spot kicks from Esteban Cambiasso and Roberto Ayala. The Germany goalkeeper was seen studying the paper between each kick, which may have unnerved the Argentines. Lehman told German television he’s now set to auction off the crumpled note he kept in his sock during the game. He said it was hard to read because it was covered with dirt and sweat. The proceeds from its auction will go to charity. In translation, the note reads as follows: 1. Riquelme left high. 2. Crespo long run/right, short run/left. 3. Heinze left low. 4. Ayala long wait, long run right. 5. Messi left. 6. Aimar long wait left. 7. Rodriguez left.
