Liverpool is still the property of Tom Hicks and George Gillett after negotiations between Dubai International Capital and the American owners, lasting well into the night, remained at a stalemate. Sources told BBC News that Gillett was tempted to accept an offer worth $400 million for his 50 percent stake in the English Premier League club. That would have netted Gillett a cool $50 million in profit from his original investment.

DIC had said that it wanted an answer by midnight last night, but rather than giving one, Gillett refused to agree to a deadline. According to BBC News, Gillett isn’t willing to sell at the price currently on offer. The talks will continue on a day-to-day basis, even though DIC sources claim the $400 million bid is final.

Hicks, on the other hand, remains unwilling to sell his share, and is understood to be raising money to buy out Gillett and take full control at Anfield. Some reports claim the Texas billionaire might now seek to buy a one percent share from Gillett, a move that would give him full control of the club. Meanwhile, as the ownership saga continues, Liverpool supporters are growing more and more vocal in their opposition to the American pair.
