Vanderbilt joined the list of Division I schools to drop mens soccer when it announced Thursday that it will drop mens soccer immediately and add womens swimming as a varsity sport by the fall of 2007.
The decision to drop mens soccer came after a 2005 season during which head coach Tim McClements was named the Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year and the Commodores finished third in the league, their highest finish ever in the MVC. VUs move to drop mens soccer leaves only Kentucky and South Carolina among SEC schools with mens soccer.
