Freddy Adu, only 13, scored twice to lead the U.S. under-17 national team to a 2-1 win over MLS's Chicago Fire in Dave Sarachan's first preseason game since taking over as Fire coach.
Adu, who is expected to receive his citizenship papers today, scored twice after Damani Ralph put the Fire ahead in the 22nd minute.
In addition to draft picks, the Fire looked at non-roster players Derk Droze, who has played in Chile and Denmark, Minnesota Thunder striker Amos Magee and University of Portland freshman Heath Pearce.
The Kansas City Wizards, who have been touring South Africa, tied SuperSport United, 0-0, for their second straight 0-0 tie in the Nkosi Johnson International Soccer Challenge.
