U.S. U-20 international forward Chris Albright, who joined the MLS Project-40 program last week, was assigned to the Miami Fusion on July 16. D.C. United then acquired the 20-year-old from the Fusion on July 17. In exchange for Albright, Miami will receive the first-round pick in the 2000 College Draft originally obtained from New England in the John Harkes trade earlier this year, as well as “future considerations” that will likely be announced in the next two weeks. “We’re very excited to have Chris Albright join D.C. United,” said D.C. GM Kevin Payne. “We’ve made a conscious effort over the last two years to try and put together a solid group of good young American players to give us a chance to stay competitive in Major League Soccer for years to come.”
