MLS has announced that recent international signing Ariel Graziani of Ecuador has been allocated to the New England Revolution. The leading scorer for Mexican first division club Morelia in 1998-99, Graziani is widely regarded as one of the top goalscorers in Central America. He was previously the leading scorer for Veracruz in Mexico and led the Ecuadorian league in goalscoring with Emelec in both 1996 and 1997, scoring 52 goals in 69 games. Born in Argentina, Graziani is a naturalized citizen of Ecuador and starred for Ecuador in the recently completed Copa America, scoring a goal against Colombia. “Graziani is a great player,” Revolution coach Walter Zenga said. “He has excelled as a goalscorer everywhere he has played, and his addition gives us one of the most dangerous attacks in MLS.” New England hopes to have Graziani in uniform as early as Saturday, July 31st, when the Revolution faces the Tampa Bay Mutiny at 7:30 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium.
