The MetroStars at Chicago match Friday, April 17, will feature the 1998 Major League Soccer debut of two internationals. In addition to Chicago goalkeeper Jorge Campos making his debut in a Fire uniform, referee Juan Carlos Paniaqua will make his MLS debut, serving as the senior referee for the match at Soldier Field. The 33-year-old Bolivian referee is part of the MLS/USSF referee exchange program that began in 1997 when Japanese referee Toru Kamikawa officiated numerous MLS matches and American referee Tim Weyland officiated J-League matches. A FIFA referee, Paniaqua also will officiate the Tampa Bay at Colorado game on Sunday, April 19, at Mile High Stadium.
