All-Star defender Mike Burns, one of the original members of the New England Revolution, has re-signed with MLS and will join New England Feb. 23 at the Revolution’s preseason training camp in Italy. “I am glad to be back with the Revolution and look forward to joining my teammates,” Burns said. Burns had tried out with several overseas clubs, including Bolton (English First Division), Hearts (Scottish Premier Division) and Utrecht (Dutch Honor Division), during the offseason. “We are very happy to have Mike back,” said New England player-coach Walter Zenga. “He figures to be an important part of our success this year.” New England tied Serie C side Prato 1-1 in the team’s first exhibition match, as Giovanni Savarese scored in the 16th minute. The Revolution will be training in Italy through March 17.
