The Columbus Crew was the only team to select any players in the 1997 MLS Waiver Draft, held Nov. 17. The Crew selected former Tampa Bay keeper Mark Dougherty and former Mutiny defender Bill Harte. The other 11 MLS clubs passed on the remaining 14 waived players, who are now free agents.
