The Columbus Crew has signed Jamaican international Andrew Williams. The forward/midfielder, a two-time all-America selection while attending the University of Rhode Island, will give Columbus another offensive weapon in addition to Brian McBride and recently acquired Trinidad & Tobago national team performer Stern John. Williams, a likely member of the Jamaican squad that will compete at France ’98, participated in the recently concluded CONCACAF Gold Cup, where he scored a goal in a 3-2 win over Guatemala and assisted on the gamewinner in a 2-0 win against El Salvador.
