MLS: D.C. United To Host Colombia March 8

D.C. United has announced that it will face the Colombian national team in a friendly match on March 8 at RFK Stadium. The match will be the Colombians’ first preparatory game for the 1998 World Cup (they are also slated to face Germany, Belgium and Chile). It will also be a final tune-up for the two-time defending MLS champs, who open the 1998 season March 15 at Miami. Colombia is expected to field a full-strength squad, including Carlos Valderrama, Freddy Rincon and Antony De Avila, while United should also have a full complement of players available. Tickets ($20 and $25) are available at all TicketMaster outlets and by calling (800) 551-SEAT or (202) 432-SEAT. For groups of 10 or more, fans are encouraged to call the D.C. United offices at (703) 478-6600.
