D.C. United has waived defenders Mark Watson, 31, and Micah Cooks, 20. Acquired on January 13, 2001, as a discovery player, Watson is currently traveling with the Canadian national team. Cooks arrived as a fifth-round selection in the 2000 MLS SuperDraft (60th overall). Watson was limited to 11 MLS matches (10 starts) because of injury. CooksÆ only MLS appearance in 2001 lasted two minutes. The 2001 MLS Waiver Draft will be held on Monday, Nov. 19.
