Of the fifteen players waived last week by Major League Soccer teams, four were claimed in the league’s April 5 waiver draft. The New England Revolution selected former Chicago Fire forward Tony Kuhn with the first pick, while the San Jose Clash chose former New England midfielder Leighton O’Brien and the Miami Fusion took former Columbus midfielder Jeff Bilyk with the third and fifth picks in the first rounds. While the remaining nine teams each passed on its draft opportunity, the Fusion selected former MetroStars midfielder Jim Rooney with the only pick of the draft’s second round. New England, San Jose and Miami each have until 5:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 7, to make the necessary roster moves in order to comply with the league’s 20-man roster limit. Players waived at that time will then be subject to normal waiver procedures.
