Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Wellington Sanchez has been sold to Morelia of the Mexican First Division. MLS signed the Ecuadoran international prior to the 1998 season and assigned him to the MetroStars, who traded him to Los Angeles April 2 for Eduardo Hurtado. Sanchez appeared in 11 games for the Galaxy, scoring once and adding four assists. He assisted on two goals in Los Angeles’ 3-1 win over Tampa Bay on July 15. The move will open up a foreign player slot for Los Angeles, which now has four international players: Mauricio Cienfuegos, Carlos Hermosillo, Martin Machon and Welton.
