Bolivian international Joselito Vaca, a 21-year-old midfielder who has played 73 games for the Dallas Burn since joining MLS in 2001, will join the MetroStars in exchange for future considerations.
''Joselito's a talented, young attacking player,'' said MetroStars coach Bob Bradley. ''He has had experience in the league and internationally, which is very valuable and we are excited to bring him to the MetroStars.''
Vaca, a product of the Tahuichi Academy in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, joined MLS at 18 after becoming the youngest player voted best player of the Bolivian First Division. He has played for Bolivia in qualifying games for the 2002 and 2006 World Cup.
He notched five goals and 17 assists for the Dallas Burn.
As a transitional international, Vaca does not count against the three senior international roster spots allocated for each team.
