The Tampa Bay Mutiny will take a break from its Major League Soccer late-season playoff run to participate in an international exhibition match versus the Puerto Rican national team. The match, sponsored by TECO Energy’s Tampa Electric, will take place on Wednesday, September 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Mutiny. “We’ve always aspired to do something for the sizeable Puerto Rican community in the Tampa Bay area,” Mutiny GM Nick Sakiewicz said. “This game represents a tribute to the rich Puerto Rican heritage in the area. “Once again, the Tampa Bay Mutiny are proud to contribute to the unique quality of being international ambassadors on behalf of the Tampa Bay area.” Last year, Tampa Bay played Leicester City of England’s Premier Division to a 0-0 tie at Houlihan’s Stadium. Tampa Bay is 3-3-5 all-time in international exhibitions. Tickets for the game start as low as $11, and can be obtained by calling the Mutiny box office at (813) 289-6811 or through TicketMaster at (813) 287-8844.
