The Tampa Bay Mutiny will travel to Guatemala June 22 in preparation for a friendly match the following evening against a team comprised of all-stars from four Guatemalan First Division teams. “Once again, the Mutiny will serve as good will ambassadors to Central America,” Mutiny GM Nick Sakiewicz said. “The match will be an opportunity for us to have a game under our belt and sort a few things out following the loss to New England Saturday and prior to our game with Los Angeles at Raymond James Stadium Sunday afternoon.” The Mutiny will depart Tampa on Tuesday, and play the match Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m (ET) in Guatemala City’s 23,000-seat stadium. The all-stars will be selected from Guatemalan clubs Xelaju, Suchitepequez, Carcha and Sacachispas. The game is sponsored by Counsa Corporacion, which is Guatemala’s largest communications company. Conusa also has various manufacturing interests throughout the world, and is heavily involved with importing and exporting goods throughout North and Central America. The Mutiny is scheduled to return to Tampa on June 24 and will host the Los Angeles Galaxy Sunday at 1:00 p.m.; the game will be followed by the U.S. Men’s U-17 national team match against England’s U-17 squad.
