Steve Nicol, who guided New England to its first MLS Cup appearance in club history, is MLS's Coach of the Year.

Nicol replaced Fernando Clavijo May 23 after the team stumbled to a 2-4-1 start. He guided New England to a 10-10-1 record, which included a six-game unbeaten streak to close out the season.

Under Nicol, the Revs rose from the bottom of the standings to the Eastern Conference title and the second seed in the playoffs.
