New England has announced that it will host Brazilian club Palmeiras of Sao Paulo in an international match on July 23 at Foxboro Stadium.
Palmeiras features Brazilian stars Cafu, Cleber, Viola, Leandro, and Colombian international Freddy Rincon. Tickets are available through both TicketMaster and the Revolution box office (800-946-7287).
The Revs also waived forward Patrick Olalere, a second-round pick in the 1997 Supplemental Draft, to make room for midfielder Bill Harte, who returns from the injured reserve list.
Shue pulls hamstring
Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Andrew Shue has been sidelined by a pulled hamstring and will be out four to six weeks.
Greg Vanney, who has been out since Feb. 20 after an operation to repair a broken fifth metatarsal, will replace Shue on the roster.
Vanney played in a 1-0 win over the U.S. U-20s on April 15, and is expected to start against the Colorado Rapids April 18.
Defender Robin Fraser, who has been suffering from a nagging thigh injury, was expected to play against Colorado, but will likely have to wait another week before returning to action.
United cuts Imler
Defending champion D.C. United waived defender Erik Imler to make room for new arrival Arnold Cruz. The Honduran defender is expected to train with D.C. on April 17, and may see action against the MetroStars on April 20.
