The underdog story of little Stevie Ralston, one of meager beginnings that include not even starting most of his high school soccer games and then playing for a local community college, won’t quite be complete unless the now New England Revolution midfield motor and MLS Mr. Reliable wins a championship.

Sure, he’s won a pair of Gold Cup titles with the U.S. and is in the MLS record books as it’s all-time assist leader, but the sad fact is that the Revs have lost all four MLS Cups they’ve played in, meaning Ralston has the dubious distinction of being “the only player who hasn’t won a title among the four original MLS players who are still active” in the league, according to the AP.

But humble as his Midwestern background, a seemingly content Ralston reminds us that “I love what I do and I love coming to work every day and not many people can say that." That said, there’s still some fire in the belly of the player that in his 14th year still managed an All-Star year and was named team MVP, with the 34-year-old finally caving in to assure fans that “it’s not over yet” and he’s still “hoping to get my hands on the MLS Cup at one point."
