Colorado Rapids forward Paul Bravo underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Dec. 1 in Denver. Bravo will be sidelined for 10-14 days, and is expected to be cleared to return to off-season training at that point. The procedure was performed by Rapids Team Doctor Wayne Gersoff at Rose Medical Center. “The procedure was very successful,” said Gersoff. “We cleaned out some debris and scar tissue from the right knee and found no additional damage.” According to Gersoff, the procedure became necessary form the “wear and tear” of the season on Bravo’s knee. Bravo has previously had two surgeries on the Anterior Cruciate Ligament in his right knee. Bravo, 30, was called up to the U.S. National Team for a November 6 match against Australia in San Jose, but was forced to miss the contest due to chronic soreness in the knee. Bravo’s last game for the Rapids was on October 5, when Colorado was eliminated from the MLS playoffs in a 1-0 loss to the eventual MLS Cup champion Chicago Fire. Bravo played in 30 games in 1999, his 30 points (11 goals, 8 assists) tying him for the team lead in the category with Wolde Harris. With 19 goals in two seasons with the Rapids, Bravo is the team’s all-time leading goal scorer.
