The Sept. 12 MLS match at Mile High Stadium between Colorado and Los Angeles has been rescheduled for Aug. 5 at 7:00 mountain time. The change became necessary due to a scheduling conflict between the Rapids and the NFL’s Denver Broncos.

United trip to Egypt postponed

D.C. United’s trip to Egypt to face Egyptian champions Al-Ahly has been postponed. The two clubs were scheduled to play on May 5 in Cairo as part of an Egyptian-American festival designed to promote U.S. tourism in Egypt, but the U.S. State Department has issued a warning to U.S. citizens traveling to or residing in Cairo to “exercise greater than usual caution” because the U.S. government “has received information of undetermined reliability that extremist groups may be planning territorial attacks against U.S. interests…in the near future.” “After consulting with the group sponsoring the trip, we felt it would be in the best interests of all concerned to heed the State Department’s advisory,” said D.C. United GM Kevin Payne. “However, we very much look forward to visiting Egypt and playing Al-Ahly at a time when it is more appropriate.” The trip will likely be postponed until the autumn, after the completion of the MLS playoffs.
